My grandmother’s great grandfather, John Allen Gibson, was a “lay preacher”
at this Redbank Church in the 1880’s. He and his wife Irene (nee Freeman) are buried in the Redbank Cemetery. He was previously a coachpainter in Wellington St, Waterloo and was an alderman on the Waterloo Council for 2 years. He and his first wife Margaret (nee Gibson) had 2 sons, Percy 1836-1878 and James 18 33-1884. He and his second wife,Irene, had no issue. James married Martha Sunners and they had my grandmother Vera Gibson who married Ernest Townsend. They had Alan Townsend,my father.
I was wondering if any photos were available of John Allen Gibson. I realise photos were a rarity in those days but maybe in the Church’s archives?
